Cartographers in the 16th and 17th century had a fear of leaving unadorned spaces on their work.

This fear was called horror vacui.

Knowing the horror that a vacui can create, we set out to bedeck this antiquated map of Canada with some of the finest mineral and crystal specimens currently owned by institutions and private collectors.  Not to be outdone by the cartographers of yor, we also included our very own sea monster.

Each province has a provincial specimen or two in the house, with the exception of PEI.  Owing to the wondrous red soil that makes this island province famous, there is little in the way of mineralization, as a result, the good peeps of PEI must take solace knowing they have the highest number of world class golf courses per capita.  It's a tough job, but someone had take one for the team.
